| Here's one hypothetical interpretation. If the record is about sin, could this perhaps be about adultery? Perhaps the main character's woman left him for his formerly loyal/true friend. Perhaps the black spot is not a disease, or being "dead to someone," but instead the blood spot from a gun shot. A gunshot wound is typically very dark red because it bleeds so profusely, then as it begins to dry, it darkens to black. He says he's "giving it" to the characters in each verse, i.e. delivering the gun shot. He gets the ultimate revenge, making them pay for the sin of adultery. | |
