i feel like "i can't hold the sun" simply means that this person can no longer bear the weight of pretending to be so happy when all they feel is hurt and sadness.
"without you, i'm getting lost."
when i had someone leave me, this song just fed that for me. this song, especially the 'mmmm's, got me through a long, hot, completely heartbreaking summer. and i'd spend the entire time wondering why, when i was drenched in sweat from the sweltering summer temperatures, why i felt so cold. the first time i heard this song, it just ached, somewhere deep inside. it still does. but in a way, it will always remind me of that summer, and i wouldn't trade that for anything. |

this song was written LONG before 9/11, but i almost feel like this song haunts me in that way. almost like it was written about that event... even though it couldn't have been. |
