It seems to me the first two verses are from the perspective of someone who has been dumped. They're saying don't end it, I have more to give. They then go on to talk about how it's been a while since they broke up and the other person has now found someone new. The rest of the song seems to be from the perspective of the person who decided to end it. "Sometimes I still need you" Sometimes they still miss the person "And I was struggling to get in Left waiting outside your door I was sure You'd give me more" The other person wouldn't let them in (metaphorically). They were sure they would give them more than that, but they didn't. "No need to come to me When I can make it all the way to you You made it clear" The other person left it up to them to put all the effort into it. "You weren't near Near enough for me" Self explanitory "Heart skipped a beat And when I caught it you were out of reach" They fell for the person, but after the initial infatuation they realised they were too distant Basically about someone who ended a relationship because the other person wasn't putting anything into it, and the other person saying how they had so much more to give. |
