i listen to this song every year the night before my birthday. i play it on repeat and i reflect on the past year. it always makes me feel so comforted and happy, and it reminds me that even through times of loneliness and struggle i'm never alone. there's always someone out there who feels the same. it's just such a beautiful song it is the night before my birthday now actually so i wanted to write this before i went off to listen to it :] |

Alright, here's what I'm thinking. There's two people who care about each other deeply. Maybe they are in love, maybe they are just friends, whichever. These two people have shared so much and have so many memories together (walking the city, knowing the place like the back of their hands). These two people are also about to go off in separate directions in life ("if you don't like my plans" - plans for the future?) which leads me to believe that this song is a goodbye. In the chorus, she is saying how she is scared of being alone. "My arms get cold in February air" - she's clarifying that she know no one will be there to keep her warm. "Please don't lose hold of me out there" - obviously, she's still scared of being alone and she doesn't want that other person to forget about her once she has gone. Maybe I'm taking it too literally, but yeah. I think it's a goodbye. It's such a lovely song :] |
