Muse – Uprising Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's a referance to the Proles in 1984. Not to mention all the other nods.

Muse – Resistance Lyrics 16 years ago
It isn't really a love song in the usual sense. The only reason it is a love song is because the novel 1984 contains love elements. It is more of a comment on that book than a love song.

Muse – United States of Eurasia/Collateral Damage Lyrics 16 years ago
As others have said, this song, like Resistance and really most of the album, is inspired by 1984. I think this song is referencing the United States (as in America), and associating them with the ideas of Orwell's novel through its title.

Muse – Resistance Lyrics 16 years ago
It's obviously straight from Nineteen Eighty-Four. I mean "Quell your prayers for love and peace / You'll wake the thought police / We can hide the truth inside," is obvious, and I'd say the "Love is our resistance / They keep us apart and won't stop breaking us down" bit is about Winston and Julia's love in the book, and their experience in the Ministry of Love and Room 101. Seems most of this album was inspired by 1984...
