| Mt Eden – Oh That I Had Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| With "To fly back with, a branch in its beak, to rescue me." and the comment about being on a boat (I'M ON A BOAT!). Sounds like references to the story of Noah's Ark? Maybe a parody of that story to being in a dire or seemingly hopeless and stranded situation? Might be a stretch. :P | |
| Evanescence – My Heart Is Broken Lyrics | 12 years ago |

The interview with Amy Lee asking her what this song was about. She compares it to Imaginary from her Fallen album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEOIam3iaB8&feature=youtube_gdata_player Basically she says it was about creating an imaginary world to escape hard things in life and then breaking through that withdrawn state and returning to reality. |

| Chevelle – Highland's Apparition Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Chevelle is made up of 3 brothers out of Chicago. They are Christian in thier beliefs but are not under a Christian label. Incidentally they often include thier Christian beliefs into thier music. Looking at it from that perspective I'm left with the impression that this song is on the topic of abortion and regret. I'm by no means sure but here's what got me thinking that way... I don't think you're nervous enough It happened to show its own face Search for the soulless ends Now point him towards rest I remember talking to a friend who was considering abortion and she said she was really nervous about it and I also didn't think she was nearly nervous enough :P That aside, the comments on the soul and pointing towards rest is hinting towards death. Cuplrits, shudder Apparitions left in time If we're honest, sight unknown Crowing, frozen, bedroom Awoke up certain lays a tomb Her tree holds it Unbeknownst still sending chills Again the death reference with the "tomb" line. "Culrpits, shudder" hinting at regret for those involved, "her tree holds it" referencing pregnancy perhaps? "Still sending chills" being another reference to regret? "Apparitions left in time" being another possible reference to the dead child left behind. Also at the end he goes on about "living proof" backing the Christian view that infants are living at conception vs. the pro-life view. You won't find me curling up A place that should make sense Well excuse me for this Better judgment "You won't find me curling up, a place that should make sense" could be referencing the fetal position that an aborted child woulnd't be in anymore, though that might be a stretch. And then the reference to "better judgement." Overall there are a lot of references to death and regret imo and a few references to infancy and birth so this song struck me as being an abortion topic. |
