Even though she already made it clear about the song meaning being about the lead singer of the Liars, I just can't accept that meaning. Just from the stuff I've been going through, I get feelings from the song being about somebody (the narrator) doing something that the other person didn't like. And now things are just falling apart and the narrator is trying desperately to tell the other person that it would be a huge mistake to call things off. Anyway, no matter how played out this song is, it's still beautiful and I still love it. |

I totally agree. The very, very beginning is really what makes it my favorite song, though. The little chime-y sounding guitars are beautiful. |

Ra Ra Riot's version sucks. This song is a masterpiece. |

| Kate Bush – The Gay Farewell Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This is one of her most beautiful songs, besides Suspended In Gaffa. I can't believe that nobody has commented on it. I think it's obvious, though, that it's about two gay men breaking up. Anyway. This song = the biggity bomb. |

This is one of the best songs I've heard in a really long time. Personally, I feel like it's about two people breaking up (how original, I know). But I feel like the narrator may have done something wrong and the person that they're singing about didn't take it lightly at all. I think the narrator feels like it's unfair to them because it was a mistake and they deserve a second chance, but the other person just won't give it to them ("the sweeping insensitivity of this still life"). And when she says "you don't care a bit", it's like 'you don't care enough about me after all that we've been through to give me another chance'. |

| Cold War Kids – Hospital Beds Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I never really thought this song had a deeper meaning than two men in a hospital room who find connections, as Nathan said it was about, but today I found my own meaning in it. We were discussing the type of characters that Ernest Hemingway created and how they were always depressed. My teacher was talking about how a lot of people always say "well, why are they so depressing? All they do is sit around and whine" and then she explained that maybe these people just needed another person to be depressed with. They needed someone to complain to and they needed someone who was in a bad place, too, so they could be understood. And out of nowhere, I thought of this song and how these men in a hospital were metaphors or people who weren't emotionally well, and because they are both in a bad condition, they stick together because they needed somebody else. They didn't need someone to make them happy, they just needed someone who would understand them. |
