I think it is a guy who sees a girl and falls in love instantly. hes trying to slow himself down from thinking of buying gifts, the dating, the breaking up.... basically visualizes them dating all the way through their breakup. kind of funny |

I definately think this entire song is about a guy cheating on his girlfriend- here's my breakdown of the lyrics: Your lips tremble (nervous) But your eyes are in a straight stare (determined) (In a straight stare) We're on the bed But your clothes are laying right there (keep and eye on where they are in case she is to hide) And I was thinking of places That I could hide (hide in the literal sense but also sexual... p in the v?) (I could hide) Tonight you're falling in love (you're referring to the girl... not him) Let me go now (he's basically telling her to stop bc he has no self control) This feeling's tearing me up (he is regretting any of it going on) Here we go now (he says fuck it and decides to cheat) Now if she does it like this Will you do it like that? | I definitely agree with you here. The fact about him never being able to have her I think also he may have not known she was a hooker in the beginning. If you watch the video she goes from innocent to provocative which is where he looses it. I think it went from experimenting with a video, to a stalkerish crush, to finding out she is a hooker in which case he goes crazy. | |

| When I first read the lyrics and listened it seemed like it was a crime scene that was trying to be covered up. Basically tell the authority what your being told to tell them. The lyrics talk about the seeds/dozen of each (people) inside outside (location) my height/weight (description of criminal). The gold lion could be an attorney... | I gain from this song that there are people in life that life only for themselves. They do anything they can go get ahead and "buy themselves time." This is about EV being worldly and seeing a larger picture. That living is about being a human "doing" not a human "being." The line "The sorrow grows bigger when the sorrow's denied" I think goes back to the fact that Eddie believes in fighting for a cause. That when something is denied or ignored, the problem only intensifies. Either way it is an amazing song by one of the best song writers of our time. | |

I think it is a reference to Eddie's childhood and about someone he runs into later in his life after a long separation. The line about being stuck upon a shelf is speaking of a picture of someone and how that is all he has ever known was that face. Basically someone has left and returned and he is so happy to see them that he feels no resentment towards them for leaving. It could possibly be his father he is referencing. He also expresses how he is not blaming them for not recognizing him just as he did not recognize them. The lines: "I just want to scream, hello My god its been so long, never dreamed you'd return But now here you are and here I am Hearts and thoughts they fade away" are the most powerful. It's like when you wait for something and build something up for one moment and then it's there and you don't know how to react. Its a fear that consumes and a box that has been closed for so long that you don't know where to begin. The end result at that point is to let them "fade away" |
