I guess for me this song makes me think that he is longing for this girl...for some reason she is off doing her own thing and he wants her attention. I don't think he wants to necessarily work stuff out with her...I just think that he wants her to help him stop longing for her. He needs her to really fuck up so bad ("fuck me up, steal my records, screw all my friends, behind my back") so that he can finally let her go. He wishes she would be so cold-hearted ("with a smile on her face") that it will be over for him and he can finally rest in peace and let the relationship between them go. i wish you'd make up my bed so i could make up my mind try it for sleeping instead maybe you'll rest sometimes It's so hard to move on from someone if they were great and nice but we've all had to move on for one reason or another...and sometimes it's ideally just so much easier getting over someone when they've really, really fucked with you. (The sad thing about the song and what makes it so powerful to me is that even though he wants her to fuck him up so he can move on...this route would probably just cause even more lifelong pain and ruined friendships and animosity...) This is classic cause so many of us can relate. it's just rad. |
