When we rest in Him it means that we have the faith in Him. That whatever is going on around us we will rest in what He says He will do for us through his word. To me this song helps me see that I don't always have to be on the lookout for myself because he is on the lookout for me. This song reminds me not to make decisions based on fear. Instead, I should make decisions based on what I know God wants for my life and what He is telling me to do. It helps me find the courage to say what I need to say, to go where I need to go, and do what I need to do. Even when my emotions/thoughts are telling me to stay safe and not go out of my comfort zone. When all I want to do is hide and not do what I know to be right even when that is the hardest thing to do at the moment. I used it for encouragemenet for when I was going through college with a new baby, a new marriage and everything seemed impossible. It helped me see through all the "things" that were happening and focus in on whatever happens if I do my part that God will help me rise above everything. "And the waves they don't seem so high From on top of them lookin' down". I was able to work through this time and get grades that were better than when I was single and had no baby. That the fact that some things that we are going through seem impossible like me thinking "I don't know how God is going to work this one out" but it helped me remember that with God he has the perfect answer to our problems and yes he can work out situations that seem overwelming and impossible for us.
