Before and during the Civil War we had men with bounties on their heads and those that hunted them. Many bounty hunters would join a confederate crew if they knew they were going to war with a group that had a man with a price on his head. After the fight the bounty hunter would try to collect the cash and be gone. This is why the Confederates started putting deserters to death.

Layne Staley was once asked in an interview what his songs were about. They wanted to know if they were about living a life of drugs. Layne replied that when he sang a song, how ever it touched you, what it meant to you, that is what the song was about. Very good music much like literature can often be interpreted in more than one way. It adds to it allure.

He is beginning to see things differently, he could stay if he wanted but will be unhappy until he accepts it. It is not ME changing you brother, trust me I know, I too was once just like you. I was one. Maturity makes us see things through our own eyes and we assign values to those things for ourselves.

This is not about any one event. It is about realizing why we are who we are. The shelf in the room could be anything, husband, father, wife anything. He is saying THIS is who I am but it is because of the shelf. I have never wanted to face the reality of the situation. I can see now that my beliefs differ. If you asked someone how come they voted a certain way and their answer is because of the way I was raised, because of my parents, you have a shelf. A habit that you have adopted for ease, not one you realized for your self.
