Radiohead – How Can You Be Sure? Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is about being with someone who seems to be so much better than you.
Someone that stays with you when you come stumbling home drunk and starving after a bad night, and in your sore mood you wonder how they can be smiling and singing when it feels as if your world is peeling away. Almost as if they're insensitive to your pain and the things you're going through. So you begin to push them away.
I think when the duet comes in to say "I don't want you... I don't want you anymore", it's signifying that both sides of the relationship are fed up with one another's behavior because no one wants to really be a crutch time and time again for someone that digs themself into a deeper pit, and if you're the one digging, more often than not you want empathy and someone to carry you instead of singing Spongebob's "F.U.N." song.

The Wrens – I've Made Enough Friends Lyrics 16 years ago
Whenever I first listened to it, I didn't think it had anything to do with the main character wanting to use his/her partner. I didn't think "I've made enough friends" pertained to his desire to remain uninvolved with the new love interest after this night.
The way I took it was this:
It's obviously two strangers. Then, he becomes more and more attracted to her and learns more about her (the arm wrestling, height comparisons, the photo album), but they're also just putting off the inevitable. After beating around the bush, they wrestle, and are breathing heavily, and everything starts. I think when it goes "I've made enough friends", he's referring to the fact that he's putting everything behind him for her. He's under the spell of Love, and he's beginning anew with this girl. So, by saying he's done with making new friends, he wants to be solely with her.
I love how the lyrics perfectly define that moment of first contact with someone new. The shaking, the goosebumps, and the anxiety and excitement.
That's just how I go about seeing it though :3
