| Brett Dennen – Ain't No Reason Lyrics | 14 years ago |

This song makes a great point: "I can't explain why we live this way; we do it everyday." I think Brett recognizes the futility of hoping that mankind is good deep down. And what's remarkable is that he doesn't exclude himself from this hypocrisy. He seems to understand that buried in the heart of every person on this earth is an overwhelming need to be affirmed, but the problem is that we are all two-faced, all completely self-consumed, all absolutely undeserving of love. We need to be rescued from this. But Brett, Love already has come for you: 2,000 years ago, Love hung on a cross, that you might know what true Love is. Only through this Love can you be completely accepted by the only true Love there is. You see, Brett, Jesus lived a perfect life - the kind of life marked by unflinching sacrifice. He lived this life because you never could - no one else ever could. He died the death that you're required to die, because of your inability to live an unselfish life, and He came back to life after three days, that you might know that absolutely nothing can keep Him from fulfilling His promises. Think about what it cost God to love this world. Then, and only then, will you see that Love has already come to set you free. |
