lots of people cause their own problems and paranoia, but when things really are troubling and creepy, it's more freaky when people act like nothing is wrong. i guess music is a good catharsis for this. |

If all the haters were really better than the troublemaker, then why wouldn't they just ask him to leave? You cause trouble so I'm going to scare you? Doesn't make sense on either a strategic or personal (moral) level. Sounds like his truckdrivin' neighbor downstairs (too sped up, but hey, him momma likes the stuff, too [check out her interview about her Factory days]). |

the power of seduction is definitely involved, but i'm not so sure stripping is a power for 97% percent of the women who resort to it. it's not like she isn't giving anything up for the influence she has, which she probably doesn't reflect upon in order to proceed forth (to keep working). and the protagonist would probably rather live through a similar experience without the money, under which all 'holiness' is subsumed, while the compromising of his morality is the source of the tension (and a kickin' song). sounds like literature review - but there we go. |

it's about a stripper - maybe x1000. the first poster was right about that. i think to read anything more into it, one would have to not actually read the lyrics, or perhaps not know what a stripper is, or be in painful denial - like a woman/fan who couldn't accept that such an emotionally powerful song was inspired by a woman hocking her flesh. e.g., i thought "hooker with a penis" actually had something to do with sex before i read the lyrics. that one is equally clear. |
