To me, there's no other party envolved in this song. He's singing to himself. He's encouraging himself to forget his problems and such. "Drink up, baby, look at the stars I'll kiss you again between the bars" It seems to me that perhaps he's speaking about jail bars; and not a literal kiss. So maybe he's convincing himself to do something raunchy enough that would land him in jail because then he goes onto say: "Where I'm seeing you there with your hands in the air Waiting to finally be caught" "Drink up one more time and I'll make you mine Keep you apart, deep in my heart Separate from the rest, where I like you the best And keep the things you forgot" This just states that the person he is when drunk is the person he likes the best. Wonderful song; one of my favorites by good old Elliott. |
