Say Anything – Transylvanian Lyrics 15 years ago
I absolutely adore this song. I've listened to it many a time on cold, rainy nights (something about the combo just feels right!) and it holds a lot a meaning for me.

It's the story of a narrator whose custom to using and abusing former lovers or simply shutting them off altogether. The first few lines "bent over the grand piano/ feel my eyes slide over you/ legs that curve the same as hers/ could run as quickly too" describe his memories of a past lover as he watches the newest interest.
"my lazy tongue lies low and ready/ it cannot seem to speak its words/ i'd axe it off to shut me up/ but you've already heard" Here, he's trying to bite his tongue to stop himself from beginning the cycle all over again, but he can't help it. He speaks, and "the murders have occurred" - he's so used to mistreating past loves that he can guarantee it will happen again, and so by now it's as good as done.
The chorus is pretty self-explanatory, continuing the whole corpse imagery to paint a pretty grotesque picture. I get the feeling that the boy doesn't really want to be this way anymore, but he can't help it. he doesn't know any better. He's been a "transylvanian" from the start.
"so take me where they cannot see us/ and lay me down on coffin rich dirt/ tonight, i am a transylvanian/ a taste of you won't hurt" Here, the song ties into the title with the vampire concept, and it's where I think the narrator begins to deceive the girl. It's the dating stage, if you will. he's like a vampire, cold and twisted and lustful, and cannot deny himself a "taste". The boy even admits his indifference to himself: "cause i am numb to every feeling/ stubborn ears will hear no sound" By now he's totally desensitized, acting mercilessly and coldly.

All in all, it's amazing how, despite the metaphors towards death, vampires, and murder, the narrator still manages to induce sympathy within the listener. The chorus feels almost like a plea, a cry for help.
Looks like it'll be one of those cold nights again, where I'll have this on repeat.

Say Anything – I Love You More Than I Hate My Period Lyrics 16 years ago
The message in the song is pretty clear. It's about an obsessive (female) fan who has a huge, unrealistic crush on the lead singer of a band. I'm pretty amazed Max Bemis can write this part so well, haha.

First, what a great song. I downloaded it the day it came out, on Tuesday, and I haven't been able to stop listening to it.

Anyways, Max Bemis has said how this song is about an abusive relationship from the abuser's point of view. It's easy to see how this is the case thoughout the song; it's very scary but homourous all at once. My favourite line has gotta be: "Until the earth's removed or daddy don't approve/ Whatever happens first depending on my mood". Overall the lyrics are great, good job Max and thank you.

You're missing a line, by the way. It's:
"Spoken:
Baby, I know you've got all those crazy, lofty goals
Going to art school and following your dreams and whatnot
Blah blah blah"

Say Anything – I Want To Know Your Plans Lyrics 16 years ago
"and if you want roses
you can go buy a bouquet
if that just won't cut it
well, what can i say

what does that↑mean???
i dont get it!! help me out guys,"

To me I hear "I'll buy a bouquet". anyways I interpret that in a literal way, as in: the guy will do anything for this girl. If she says roses will fix everything, he'll buy her a bouquet. If that's not enough, what can he say to make it better? ( what a cute part, hah... <3)

Anyways I think it's pretty obvious that this song is about a boy sharing his feelings for a girl he loves that he will never see again.(wow run-on sentence) I can't decide if the boy and girl were in a rocky relationshp and he's trying to say he loves her no matter what happened (as a few past people have thought) or if they were never dating and the girl maybe didnt even know the boy existed. I'm leaning towards the former though, for such lines as "If you could forgive me/ for being so brash" and "no more fighting/ this is only a waste of our time". Perhaps it's a mix of both; the boy loved the girl for a long time and only a short while ago they started dating, but the relationshp was vey rocky and upsetting. Now that the girl's leaving forever, the boy regrets all the time he wasted without her and wishes she could just understand how much he loves her. It's overall a very cute but also upsetting song... the kind where you wish the singer would make it a happy ending at the end. But of course, there is no happy ending.
