| probably a slightly anarchistic tune. Mainstream media and politicians selling us bullshit and I reckon it's pretty much a song about being aware of what's going on and just taking control as to how you think your life should be lived. | |

This is 100% a political (or maybe anti-political song). Emotionally charged and most likely about the mis-leading of the 'Allied' governments, in particular at the USA, into the wars overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. He's also pissed off about the mainstream that were so dumb enough to swallow the lies. If you look at the video too, there is a lot of representation: The line of guards charging after him - The establishment. Look at the wall of red paint. The blood of the young soldiers that died for the 'just cause'. Blood on the establishment as it explodes all over the guards. In the lyrics, the left and right bit simply means that no matter who gets voted in, you still get fed the lies with which they want you to believe. Simply he's pissed off with the system, the mainstream and in particular, that which led to the wars. He ain't anyone's fool. I f'kin love this song.. it made the hairs stand on the back of my neck when I heard it but also add the video to it and it's really chilling - especially the wall of blood exploding.. Possibly the best Foo Fighters tune ever!!!! |
