| Say Anything – Hate Everyone Lyrics | 16 years ago |

It's weird how this song is apparently about hating everyone, but all I think of when I listen to the lyrics is a rant against childhood. I can't really make sense of the lyrics. "The blind leading the lame" is a great line though. People who can't lead leading people who can't follow. |

| Say Anything – Do Better Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think this song is about those people who don't really do much in their lives and just wait for things to happen for them. This generalized person he is talking about spends all his time doing nothing. From "Simple as a hint of gas" to "clench the world between your buns" is talking about the everyday activities of this person. The first two lines of this section are describing farting (seems weird but it makes total sense when you read the lines again). The next two are describing how he eats candy all day until his tongue hurts, and the next two are how he sits on the couch and watches TV all day. In this stanza, he is basically describing a lazy person who is wasting his life away. Next, Max criticizes him for not taking action in his life by saying "And it's disgusting how little that you try / The existential equivalent of pink eye." This person is one of those people who wait for things to happen rather than taking action themselves. The next stanza opens with "Drink alone and watch TV... anthem of impending doom." These two lines are similar to the previous stanza about how the character does not take action to make his life better, but just waits for something to happen on its own. The rest of the song is just chanting the same message over that the person could do better if he actually tried. |

| Say Anything – Admit It!!! Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Exactly. Throughout the song, Max hints at his own hypocrisy of making fun of people who think they're better than everyone, when he is the same way. Like how he uses overly sophisticated vocabulary and talks about how long he spends on his hair each day. The best part of this song is how it coaxes all these other people on this forum into agreeing with the lyrics when they are the real target of the song. |

| Say Anything – It's a Metaphor, Fool Lyrics | 16 years ago |

i think this song is a metaphor for his drug-induced bipolar episode. he became really addicted to pot and stuff while writing the first disc of ...is a real boy and then all the consequences hit at once and he sort of lost it. "love like no other" refers to addiction, "got your scars on my wrist" refers to how he was killing himself with drugs. the chorus is saying that hes done with drugs and alcohol and that theyre just "dead skin." i feel like that middle part from "so heres the plan...our own apartment" means that max somehow feels that the whole episode contributed to his success, like he has something to write about in his songs. as for 16, i dont really know. maybe there are like 16 pills he takes or something for his condition. |
