Hey! Both The Killers and Coldplay are excellent bands! And if you look into Coldplay (beyond the singles) you'll see they're are not as repetitive as they seem. This is comming from someone who used to dislike Coldplay.
And why are going around saying that Vivalavida hasn't heard any other Killers songs besides This River is Wild. Ovbiously he/she has. This River is wild isn't one of their famous songs, so if she/he only knew one or two, it wouldn't be This River Is Wild. Second, she/he would barely be able to tell the difference in between the first two albums and Day and Age if she/he only had a few reference songs.
I'm not saying I agree with vivalavida (I prefer Sam's Town over Day and Age), but I don't think saying that Coldplay sucks is the best way to disagree |

Basically, this song is about a boy that is deeply in love with a girl who apparently lost interest in him after they made love. I don't know why it's September gurl and December boy but I'm guessing that it refers to their personality. September is the month where school starts again and people start to work harder. So the September gurl is always busy and impersonal. December is the last month of the year and a vacation month, when we just sit down and start to think back "what the hell have I've been doing". It's a month full of deep thought. So the December boy is a time waister who is very personal. |

Look, I hate it when people say these "I hate school" songs are pointless. I honestly think that the only reason we are stuck in school is because if we don't go we wont survive in this world unless we get extremely lucky. I agree with Skye here. Why make us all learn the same things. Everyone wants to learn different things. Still in this society things are that way. They treat us the same when we are different.
I guess I'm being inmature but face it I am inmature. I'm only 13, jeez. Maybe when I turn into an adult I won't think the same but for now I'm just another honor student who secretly wants to break out of school and escape to a world where everything isn't about a million of people who studied or didn't study being slaves of all powerful industries. A world where we aren't chained to a redundant cycle.
And I know I'm being careless cuz many kids don't even get a glimpse of education but both ways it's bad. BUT THOSE WITH NO EDUCATION ARE IN A MUCH WORSE POSITION. But the internal struggle that teens get in school that eventually turns them to lifeless officer clones might actually be responsible for this disatisfaction.
If it was better written I would like it better but I get the true message behind this song. It's the
desire to be free.
And yes I AM TAKING THIS TOO SERIOUSLY. I guess I never had the chance to bring things like this up till now.

This song can be considered a love song but I guess thats only a secondary part of it. I'm no expert but I think it's about the difficulties of love as you age. The couple is starting to lose that spark they had and their effortless youth and they want it back. The song really captures the lonliness and nostalgia of aging.
This song is probably not for the enviorment. It goes but if you put it that way it knid of loses it's emotion. It's taking the song too literal. The people who think it's about aging only are overestimating some parts and ignoring others.

This song actually has a few elements. It's about self injury, hiding your true self and higly possibly about DRUGS. Even though the song clearly mentions stuff about injuring yourself it can be mental injuries. Doing drugs is technacly like stabbing your brain.
Eighter way I find hurting yourself RIDICOULOUS. I have friends who do it but I don't find any reason to do it. When I was in 5th grade I was close though. It was the low point of my life. low self esteem, cold lonely feeling, crying in the bathroom floor and so on. I did cut myself once or twice but quickly learned it wasn't the answer. Cutting yourself only makes EVERYTHING worse. |

The song is actually in my oopinion questioning those behind his power cuz of course he was a puppet. He was born to be "presidet" It makes me wounder if he ever wanted to be something else.
But of course more importantly this song is seing war from a kids perspective. Anyone else noticed? "Ten years old is something to see"
I find it silly that everyone is turning against each other because of political shit. The song is political but the feeling of being ignored, that feeling of not being able to do anything that not only 10 year olds but anyone of any age feels is the whole point of this song. What caught my ear.
Maybe it's because when I heard Hands Held High for the first time I was ten ( I'm 12 right now) It was one of my fiest LP song. And my fave right next to forgotten.
