I've only listened to it a few times, but it really got to me. I misheard a few of the lyrics and ended up translating it into his father being a misunderstood transvestite/gay. The big difference was that I misheard "than when you slammed the door" as "THEN when", so I had assumed that he was trying to say that he would be proud that he could see his father's true side, you know, like an unconditional love. Although it's not the actual meaning of the song, the idea brought a tear to my eye! |

This world is so devoid of any meaning that experiencing emotions is actually a confusing prospect, but how can one even begin to escape such a facade when that's all we know? |

It's just about the paranoia in the whole reason for having a long-distance relationship that can never work.
Comfort in distance but not letting the other straight out of your view is the keen sign of a breakdown in the fact that the distance just can't let it last. You're secretly happy with the fact that the other person lives so far away from you that the breakdown isn't a problem you have to deal with, but at the same time you're a paranoia-freak coz they're still your partner and they can do anything while you're not there to be able to see them.
Most people in long distance relationships only seem to get to know one side of eachother aswell because of the fact that they rarely meet eachothers friends or spend time around them, or at least in familiar comfort. |

| Swimming With Dolphins – Jacques Cousteau Lyrics

I'm sure the chorus is kinda wrong. I tried and tried but couldn't find the S syllable in "nights"
Also heard him pronouncing other parts in different ways, but couldn't work out which was the most sure one.
"It's gonna be a lit-alone some night" (lit-alone being pronounced the same as little-lone, combining the two words together) :P
This song is amaze! I haven't yet seen the connection to Jacques Cousteau though! |

For a while I had this weird phantom lyric in my head telling me "I can finally see that you're right there above me", so I got confused whenever I'd listen to the song and not hear it.
Creepy... |

I thought it was "hide all my loose change in my bed roll"
would make much more sense considering the lyrics... |

I swear "courage swept over me" is wrong...
(or at least to my ears anyway)
Coz what I hear is "And girl it swept over me" |

| Owl City – The Saltwater Room (Ocean Eyes Album Version) Lyrics

I can understand that other people might like the re-make of this song but...
To me, it completely sucks!
It lacks every single element that made the song good!
There's no sliding of the guitar, the first chorus is cut short, some of the lyrics have changed, he doesn't even sing it in the same way, and that guitar solo near the end really does suck...
For me, this song is very reflective of what would happen if;
A: You did a crap cover of your own song
B: You signed a record deal with a massive record company and wanted to put songs from your old album onto the new one.
If all you guys like it, fair enough, just your taste...
But for me, this re-make just sucks ass every time I hear it
(Still loving the original though!) >:] |

Yeah I agree. I love the line "for every apology that was never said". It's a really good way of saying how it is with people who's standards are too high for yourself because they never acknowledge, admit, or blame themselves when they hurt you. |

Hmmm I always thought it was "bursting like a bubblebeam"
And this guy must be really slick at making girls fall for him considering the way he writes his music |

This song is so cool!
And to me it means the sadness of how things used to be, but the realisticism of how things normally turn out to be |

Feels cool that I suddenly think that this song is about bereavement for a deceased love one then come on here and other people got the same feel (: |

If they were trying to get their music out don't you think they would have more likely put a lot of effort into songs like this to get themselves known and liked? rather than just creating stuff that's not their best just to show it to people, which would make them less likely to get famous? |

That's odd... This has always been called Nonpareil of Wisdom on my computer!
Anyway, I heard these other lyrics in the song whilst listening to the song. I also noticed that when they played the song at latitude Kevin was singing the lyrics to it, but I don't remember any of them!
I think he also had some extended lyrics on the song Id Engager at the same show |
