My take on this, plain and simple. He's in love with a girl that just sees him as her friend, as someone to confide in. He's afraid to tell her, because he doesn't want to risk losing her friendship. Like I said, plain and simple. Oh, and Fallen Through, when it says 'I'd play the game but I'm the referee' I don't think it means his game won't work on her, I think it means that he'd try to win her affection, and tell her how he feels, but he can't, because as the referee, it's not his place to do interfere. As the one she goes to for support, probably to do with relationships going bad, he probably has to give her advice on what to do, and he doesn't think it's be right to try and win her over. I just started ranting, didn't I? Damn, I've been trying to kick that habit. :P This song reminds me of 4 girls I've liked in the past that saw me as a friend that I loved. I wound up in a relationship with 3 of those. One lasting a week, the second 3 months, and the current is still going at 4 months. Turns out, she's loved me for years. The song also reminds me of one of my friends who loves me, one of my friends that possibly loves my girlfriend, and a few other people. :P |

This song makes me think of my girlfriend. No matter how much I, or any of her friends try, she's always miserable on the inside. She says the only time she's happy, and she doesn't want to die is when she's with me. Pity we never get to see each other. |

This song is amazing. First time I heard it, my jaw dropped. Literally. I love the way Omar mixes English with Spanish (It is Spanish, isn't it?), and how enigmatic the lyrics are. Incredibly powerful, I love this song. |
