The Decemberists – Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then) Lyrics 16 years ago
"Sea-swelled Carolinas" as in North and South Carolina, which are on the east coast and therefore next to the Atlantic Ocean.

The Decemberists – Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then) Lyrics 16 years ago
I have to agree with headwounds about the man being a Union soldier. I intrepreted the "far from the sea-swell Carolinas/that's where my true love lies" as him being a Northerner. Since most of the Civil War was actually fought in the South, him being from the South and fighting in the South and yet being far away from the Carolinas doesn't make sense to me. "I will be home then" isn't necessarily speaking regionally, but more like his home is where his love is.

Just a possibility.

Passion Pit – To Kingdom Come Lyrics 16 years ago
"Thrown back through the dark with your eyes as my candle" is NO WHERE in this song, therefore even if it were Eyes as Candles (which I know for fact it's not), your argument completely fails.

To Kingdom Come is 4:04 on the album. Eyes as Candles is 4:08. My copy of To Kingdom Come is 4:04 and these are the lyrics to it. :/ And again, your argument fails as the lyrics that are your supporting evidence aren't even in the song.

Tegan and Sara – Someday Lyrics 16 years ago
Am I the only one really listening to this? The chorus goes like:

Might paint something I MIGHT want to hang here someday
Might write something I MIGHT want to say to you someday
Might do something I MIGHT be proud of someday

Listen and you'll hear the other might. :/

The Meg And Dia Band – Fighting For Nothing Lyrics 16 years ago
These lyrics are wrong. I own the CD. I'm not at home, so I don't have the lyric book on me but some corrections I know just from familiarity:

"with my arms out in the front singing "tear me, tear me" this is actually "dare me, dare me". I love the line. I love this whole album, it's like my personal anthem and reminds to stand up for myself and say something.

"They say it gets better, better" is actually "They say it's better, better" as in they say it's better to just tell you what you want instead of getting you worked up over the truth.

"I hope they cut you open, make you seal the warn" you're missing a whole bunch here. It's "I've got my words, I hope they hurt you, I hope they scar you, I hope they heal you, I hope they cut you open, make you see that you've been warring for all the wrong reasons." Also memorized because it reminds me of myself.

"Run the strip through your hair" this is "run the spit through your hair."

Hope that helps. You can't interpret a song if you don't have the correct lyrics.
