| Emily Wells – Symphony 3: The Story (feat. Count Bass D) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

"Then came EPIC, they really tried to sell it You'll be rich and famous if you only make a record That has a lot of fluff. And don't forget the hooks. Babe, just stick with us, and they'll be writin' books." You know, Epic like the music label. "But here is something you were not told, DWIGHT SPITZ cannot be pigeon-holed. Divineness and Wells, the stories she cleverly tells, Hillbillies versus the business of Beverly Hills. Another concept we all must ponder, Absence of genre makes the art grow fonder." Dwight Spitz as in Count Bass D. |

I don't think this song is necessarily about cheating. I think they were never together to begin with. This is my take on the song. My comments will be in CAPS. Time to tell me the truth To burden your mouth for what you say No pieces of paper in the way 'Cause I can't continue pretending to choose The opposite sides on which we fall The loving you laters, if at all No right minds could wrong be this many times SHE WANTS HIM TO ACTUALLY SAY THE WORDS AND NOT JUST ASSUME THAT SHE UNDERSTANDS. "BURDEN HIS MOUTH FOR WHAT HE SAYS" MEANS TO ACTUALLY HAVE HIM TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS INTENTIONS AND NOT BE ABLE TO SLIDE BY JUST BECAUSE HE NEVER VOICED THEM. SHE CAN'T KEEP PRETENDING THAT THEY DON'T HAVE DIFFERENCES AND THERE IS ALWAYS A REASON THEY CANNOT BE TOGETHER. SHOULD SHE JUST GIVE UP AND MOVE ON? THEY USED TO PROMISE EACH OTHER THAT THEY WOULD "LOVE EACH OTHER LATER" BUT SHE HAS GROWN SKEPTICAL. DID HE STOP LOVING HER? DOES HE STILL FEEL THE SAME WAY? My memory is cruel I'm queen of attention-to-details Defending intentions if he fails Until now, he told me her name It sounded familiar in a way I could have sworn I'd heard him Say it ten thousand times If only I had been listening HIS INTENTIONS OR FEELINGS ARE NEVER VOICED AND THE ONLY WAY SHE CAN JUDGE HIS FEELINGS IS THROUGH HIS ACTIONS AND ATTITUDE TOWARD HER. SHE EXAMINES ALL INTERACTIONS AND GOES OVER EVERY DETAIL HOPING TO GLEAN SOME MEANING OUT OF NOTHING. WHENEVER HE ACTS IN A WAY THAT ISN'T IN LINE WITH HER THEORY OF HIM STILL LOVING HER, SHE MAKES SOMETHING UP TO DEFEND HIM. THAT IS UNTIL HE TELLS HER THAT HE IS NOW WITH SOMEONE ELSE, A GIRL SHE HAS HEARD HIM MENTION BEFORE. SHE'S UPSET SHE WAS TOO BLINDED BY HER OWN DESIRE TO BE WITH HIM THAT SHE HADN'T NOTICED THAT HE HAD MOVED ON AND WAS WITH SOMEBODY NEW. Leave unsaid unspoken Eyes wide shut unopened You and me Always between the lines THIS PRETTY MUCH SUMS UP THEIR RELATIONSHIP. THEY NEVER ACTUALLY SAY WHAT THEY MEAN AND RELY ON OTHER, LESS RELIABLE FORMS OF COMMUNICATION TO GET THEIR FEELINGS ACROSS. SHE ONLY SEES WHAT SHE WANTS TO SEE. SHE ALWAYS HAS TO READ BETWEEN THE LINES TO UNDERSTAND HIM, WHICH LEAVES MUCH ROOM FOR ERROR. I thought I was ready to bleed That we'd move from the shadows on the wall And stand in the center of it all Too late, two choices, to stay or to leave Mine was so easy to uncover He'd already left with the other So I learned to listen through silence SHE THOUGHT THEY WERE BOTH STILL HOLDING ON AND WERE ACTUALLY QUITE CLOSE TO ACTUALLY BEING TOGETHER. SHE WAS READY TO BLEED (OR GIVE HIM HER HEART) AND MOVE THEIR UNSPOKEN AND HIDDEN LOVE INTO PLAIN VIEW. BUT IT WAS TOO LATE BECAUSE THEY BOTH NO LONGER FELT THE SAME (EXCEPT SHE DOESN'T KNOW THAT YET). SHE HAD TWO CHOICES AND WHEN SHE CHOSE TO HOLD ON, HE CHOSE TO MOVE ON. THIS MADE HER NEW CHOICE VERY EASY BECAUSE HE HAD ALREADY LEFT HAVING CHOSEN THE OTHER OPTION. SHE HAS NOW BECOME A BETTER AT READING BETWEEN THE LINES. I tell myself All the words he surely meant to say I'll talk until The conversation doesn't stay on "Wait for me, I'm almost ready," When he meant "Let go," SHE NOW SEES HOW SHE USED TO TAKE WHAT HAPPENED AND TWIST IT TO MEAN SOMETHING ELSE. WHEN HE REALLY MEANT TO SAY "LET GO," SHE TOOK IT TO MEAN "WAIT FOR ME." |
