I've grown up in a Christian faith, but as I grow up, I find out how confusing it is. But forget about what everyone ever told me. When I talk to God, I know he's listening. And it's such a good feeling to know he's always going to be there. I hate when people take religion too seriously. It's great to share your love with the others of your religion (church), but don't shove it down someone's throat. That's why God gets a bad rap. This song just makes me feel better. I love God so much, and to me, that's what religion is- the relationship you have with whatever you believe in. My sister told me something I'll never forget: Don't you remember how much better Christmas was when you believed in Santa? Well that's how I feel about God. Even if I'm wrong in the end, believing in him made me live a better life in which I didn't feel like there was no hope. |

All I can think about is this boy that I have had these raging feelings for since the third grade. He used to be my sister's best friend and he's four years older than me, but to this day, (its been a long time), I cant seem to quit these feelings. He knows that I am in love with him, but obviously he would never see me as anything because im so young to him. But "my eyes cant look at him any other way". He's also really into drugs now and therefore the lines:
"The town is gonna talk, but these people do not
See things through to the very minimal
But what's it gonna cost to be gone?
If we see you like I hoped we never would"
they fit perfectly. i just love him and hope the best for his life, which hes turning into a total piece of sh**. |

I always thought this song was talking about a girl (Rachel) who was in love with a drug addict. In the end he breaks her heart by always putting drugs first. And to move on, Rachel goes to a museum, and while looking at the art or whatever, she leaves all her feelings there, that she had for this guy. |

i think the first verse may possibly be about a father talking about him and his wife/ girlfriend being excited about their new child and being interested in how the baby works and learns. and then the second verse goes on to how they had their second child and the memories of the first child as a baby fade away because their attention goes onto the new baby and the first child is confused and feels left out or distant from the family. |

| MGMT – Weekend Wars Lyrics

this song is confusing and lacking sense when you first hear it, which makes it so intriguing, to me personally, i believe it's about the beggining of the world and fading off to the end of the world, and talking about the stages, from the beggining on an island having to hunt for food and creating a home and painting its walls by the use of your surroundings and then it goes to having more people around because the population grew and we learned about how we could make usage of the nature that surrounds us, so there were more people as time grew on. Think of the island as a continent and expanding and expanding until you have reached the other side as generations pass. and then you go on to other lands and so on and so on until you have the earth with it's billions of people. and the lands become nations and the nations dispute and start a war until it's the end of the war, no peace.
"Twisted diamond heart, I'm the weekend warrior
My predictions are the only things I have
I can amplify the sound and light and love
I'm a curse and I'm a sound
When I open up my mouth"
^^^ its talking about how this person is watching the world grow, and it's too late because he's now only become one voice out of six billion. and he tries to amplify the sound of light and love to the people of earth, but they dont listen because he is one person. he's stuck fighting the wars against the nations, and he trys to avoid it. because he remembers how we all came from the few number of people who discovered the island.
i wrote a lot. but long story short this song is really about how we shouldn't fight wars because we all were a part of the same nation at one point. we all came from "the island"
