So I think it's pretty obvious that the song is about how a guy is scared of a giant storm, but a girl comes along that tells him not to be afraid. They instantly fall for each other cause it calls them "lovers", but when they get to close to the shore the girl gets swept into the ocean. The guy can't save her and he watches as she drowns [Rather sad, really]. So the guy decides that he will one day join hr and be with her forever. |

Ok, so to me "Andria" is about how this guy and his flame aren't together anymore, but he still loves her and is trying to figure out why their love faded and in which point in their relationship. Toward the end he decides that: "If I can't love you as a lover, I will love you as a friend." So he knows that its better to have her as friend than nothing at all. |

Ok, so I've seen La Dispute live in Michigan and I love them sooo much (:
But yeah the song to me is about how this guy's girlfriend tried so hard to be his love, but he's holding onto the memories and pain of his last love. His old love must of been taken away from him "the day they had her torn away", so now his fears of love are holding him back from loving his new flame. |
