My husband is at war- He's been gone for a year this past month. He sent it to me not long ago to listen to. To me it means a few things. One, they are surrounded by loss alot of the time. They deal with death more than most of us on a daily basis. Most of the time they push back the sadness and move on with their lives and their daily duties. In other words they don't have time to grieve. When they get home is when they start to deal with the losses they have suffered and what they have seen over there. So when he says Never let it show The pain I've grown to know �Cause with all these things we do It don't matter when I'm coming home to you I believe its about that. I know that everytime my husband leaves he hand writes a letter to give to me in case he dies (sucky but what can you do) It also means to me that daily they pray they are going to be alive to come home to us. Many soldiers have come to terms they might not come home so the guy in the song probably like so many others reached to the sky and tried to find peace with his god. I reach towards the sky I've said my goodbyes My heart's always with you now I won't question why so many have died My prayers have made it through yeah This song is really deep on so many levels and does a good job at covering how they feel I think. He has told me that sometimes the only thing that gets him through the day is knowing he will be coming home to me and the kids. Definitely think this is about the war and missing your friends, family, kids. |

| I believe this song is about the woman he loves turning into someone else. She's lost herself mentally. She's not at all who he started out with. He wants her to come back to him and through her emotional problems he is begging her to give him a sign that they're meant to be. He wants her to be like she was. Like THEY were. | I believe this song is about how two wounded people can come together to make each other feel normal. Tori Amos talked about finding a voice for her rape. I think this is finding a voice for that as well as being in a relationship and they both understand nobody is perfect but together they are better. In the end she's helping him overcome bad things and he's doing the same. I get from the beginning maybe she was going crazy a bit. | |
