This song highlights the ridiculous obsession Americans have with celebrities. In spanish 'lagrimas' means tears. People want to know everything about them. They'll take anything they can get--even if it brings these people (yes, they are people too) to 'lagrimas'. Paparazzi seek to know every detail of their lives:
"miss madonna where you goin' after work
In that preacher's car"
They ask won't you 'let me underneath your halo' in order for them to be let in and discover what it is that makes them so different...glowing...angel-like.
I love Cocorosie's satire. They also use it in 'By Your Side'-- to mock the demeaning nature of housewivery. |
