I see it like this: Hannah has depression. She gets brutally sad and lonely at times, but she can't talk about it. I think there's something bad about the dad, maybe that he sees Hannah as sinful - her depression and mental problems could be the Devil's work? Or the guy loves is sinful and he doesn't want them to be together. I think the "he" who caught him is an angel; there is a definite religious reference running through the song, and an angel is very innocent and pure, like his intentions. The angel perhaps gave him stronger faith in Hannah and belief that they could still be together. All he wants is to be with her and to know what upsets her. My name is Hannah. This song makes me cry. Not good when I listen to it in public. Beautiful voice. |

I kinda see it as this. She told him once that she liked him, but he said he wasn't interested, even though he was lying. He'd love to go forward to the next time he sees her and tell her he loves her, but she'd be angry if he told her that now. They're in a situation together everyday - this could be work, college, school, whatever. And the more they talk and she tells him things, the more she covers up her feelings for him (brick wall behind her door). Every time he sees her, she is more perfect and more beautiful, but he's too scared to tell HER how he feels and just wants her to fall into his arms. Also, I don't see them as best friends as such, just because the are together so often and because she told him she liked him, she feels comfortable talking to him. The "searching until my hands bleed" is his hunt to find the perfect way to make her his. He can't understand why she is busy looking for someone she thinks is for her when he is right in front of her. love this song. just downloaded it =] |

I finished with my last ex because I thought it would be the best thing in the long run for the both of us. I was so brutally wrong and regret losing him. For that reason this song reminds me so much of him. So, imagine my reaction when I clicked the link to this song and he came onto MSN. Sign or Coincidence? Just want to say too, I love this song. I know the concept of the more popular video (there are two) is that the man she loved died, I do see it more as wanting the best thing that ever happened to you to return, arms open and ready to forgive. |

I always see it as this girl who's after a guy she's friends with, he knows she likes him but he doesn't feel the same way. She's determined to spend as much time with him as possible in an attempt to get him to like her back. She's trying so hard that it's getting a bit stalker-y. The whole Paparazzi idea is that she's taking pictures of him when they are with other friends and he feels awkward and all, like so many celebs do with the actual paparazzi. I kinda think too that he's in a band and she's trying hard to fit in with the sort of band it is. I know this isn't actually the meaning, but it's just what I think. |
