It's about the steady decline of morality in the Catholic Church over the 2000 years it has been around.
It satires how radically the Churches standards have shifted over the years (ie, Vatican II). It poses the question to us that perhaps the Church will be a place where the actions listed in the song will be performed and endorsed by members of the Church. |

Disagreeing with you guys here, I think this song is trying to make a statement about how a material obsessed world leads its inhabitants to becoming hostile towards each other, and metaphorically killing each other in order to acquire more possessions, which ultimately leads to a selfish world, in which the people are entirely self centered and disinterested with the needs of others |
