Dude, only 9 posts because once you see the movie Barfly you realize where every line of this song came from.... almost verbatim. |

| NOFX – Always Hate Hippies Lyrics

The old school punk rockers of the late 70s/early 80s HATED hippies. You need to realize that this was the scene Fat Mike grew up in.
Nowadays, they're more of an "annoyance" than anything else. I mean, neo-hippies listen to crappy music, and act like idiots, and their whole lives are based around doing drugs. Most of them are rich, southern, college kids. |

OR, it's just a bunch of nonsense about getting really high on glue. Either way.... |

First verse is about being at a bar until closing time.
Second verse is about a dude getting kicked out of his house by his girlfriend/wife, and getting s---faced. |

Wow, some people are reading too much into the lyrics for something that's not there ::cough::Davo::cough::
It's about a mental illness (probably depression since people in the family seem to off themselves) running in a family. Pretty cut-and-dry.
I remember reading somewhere that depression ran in Kurt Cobain's family and that he had a grandfather or a few uncles or something who killed themselves. I doubt that was the inspiration for this tune, but I just figured I'd mention it. |

Also, Fat Mike is a college graduate, he definitely didn't "Drop out". Like someone above me said, they use sarcasm and absurdity to prove their point a lot, and dumb people can be easily confused by it. |

NOFX mixes sarcasm and humor with (I guess) important serious lyrics, and I think it confuses people sometimes which side of the line they're on.
You just have to be smart enough to know when they're kidding and when they're being serious. |

I don't think the song has anything to do with AC/DC, you're reading too much into El Hefe goofing around at the end of a live song. |

| NOFX – Kill Rock Stars Lyrics
|
Some of the Bikini Kills fan-girls on here are totally misinterpreting the song.
Fat Mike knows Kathleen Hanna and they don't get along (or at least they didn't 13 years ago when he wrote this).
The lyrics aren't based on his views of feminism or his views of her songs, they're based on things she actually said to him/about him that pissed him off.
Kathleen Hanna, much like her fans posting on here, can't take a joke and doesn't get sarcasm so she probably misinterpreted one of the Mike's songs and got all uppity over it. If you cannot take a joke or you don't get sarcasm, NOFX is the WRONG band for you!
BTW: Idntfcklosers has never listened to NOFX in his or her life, I guarantee it. |
