| MGMT – 4th Dimensional Transition Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
You're all missing the biggest point to make: If MGMT has created something that has some sort of deeper meaning to someone else, should they be condemned? Personally, I think this song is about complete and absolute love that eventually fades and corrodes because of fear. Fear is an inky sort of acid that weighs everything down. If they wrote this piece of beauty under the influence of drugs, then so be it. It still has meaning that I craft from that and because of that, I will not demonize it as something to be feared and hated. Practice love and you will know all. |

| Emily Jane White – Dark Undercoat Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| We blind ourselves with these expectations and these assumptions that plague our daily lives. Sometimes, the truth is a soft and fragile light that we guard deep within ourselves until we allow another in. | |
| Mew – I Should Have Been A Tsin-Tsi (For You) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| In a way, it's almost a double meaning. You can't truly be a medicine for someone because that disrupts your ability to care for yourself. You can only help a person back on their feet and let them do the rest. If you do act as a "medicine", you're being a "fool" for the other person. | |

| Bradley Hathaway – Look Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It's such a beautiful song. So quiet, calm, and full of introspection. It's a true "hindsight is 20/20" sort of song. | |
| See What I Wanna See – The Greatest Practical Joke Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
These are the actual lyrics: The greatest practical joke Played on the common folk is God! You want some mannegut? The worst political prank Played by the filing rank Is Christ, Mohammed, Buddah, Vishnu, Joseph Smith and all his angels To keep the poor in check. The business offers daily masses And threatens Hell and heck! Look at the world You think there's a God? There isn't a God! Not when you got all those criminal types Like Henry Kissinger sneaking around And pedaling nukes! Look at the world! If there's a God You'd think he'd do something To stop all the war And the crime and the crap And he'd punish those son of a bitches Who write all those stupid new TV shows! Look at the world! There can't be a God Not when you got those crazy nuns Like Mother Theresa Who don't give those Indians rubbers And so they have babies and babies And everyone's crowded And hungry and starving... Of course, if Indian food was all I had to eat... I wouldn't eat! There's lots of blood you can spill You got the right to kill for God Eat up there's more lasagna. You'll earn your saintly reward Aiming your missiles toward The heathen who do not believe in All the crap that you believe in! You were always a gullible dope You keep playing dumb and baby, you'll be the Pope! So watch your feet before you fall For the greatest practical joke Of all! |

| Crystal Castles – Alice Practice Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This was originally a practice from Alice. She didn't know that a microphone was on and someone sent it to a record label that accepted them. They pretty much messed around with this one for shits and giggles. FACE! |

| Joanna Newsom – Sprout and the Bean Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Just a note: In the song "Emily", Joanna sings the lyric: "You came and lay a cold compress upon the mess I'm in Threw the window wide and cried, "Amen! Amen! Amen!" The whole world stopped to hear you hollering You looked down and saw now what was happening" And "In search of the midwife Who could help me Who could help me Help me find my way back in There are worries where I've been" These, coupled with this song really support the abortion theory for me. In an interview, Joanna mentioned that 'Emily' was a "deeply biographical" song concerning her life and her relationship with her sister. It seems interesting that her "deeply biographical" song and this one both have very obvious lyrics pertaining to guilt, abortion, and worry. Just wanted to share. |
