This song is NOT about settling. Ingrid has said so while playing it live..she prefaced the song by saying "It's called 'Giving Up', but it's a GOOD giving up." It's about commitment/marriage and the fears that come with it, and the previous life/desires worth giving up when we fall in love with someone. It all goes out the window, because we finally found the one. No more needing to look for greener pastures. This is it. This song is...just lovely. |
