This song is actually about a girl Tim Armstrong once met while standing in a Downtown Manhattan deli line in NYC back in September 1997. He asked her where she was from and she said Uptown Manhattan. She told him she lived in rathole Uptown. He asked her for directions to a show he was headed to that night and asked her to come with him, but she declined his offer and said she was mad tired and going straight home Uptown on the subway instead. True story. |
