Ace, the spelling of valuum has NOTHING to do with volume. it's not pronounced as volume, but more like val-yum (with a distinct 'a' i might add) i don't think this song is about a concrete idea or thought, but more about a person strapped down in a (mental) hospital, thinking about how his hopes fade away. the lyrics here are screwed up, the correct ones are: melvin: 5 times weekly rate, 12 by 12 foot room succumbed to the bed, now pump up the valium! mike: my mind is wide asleep, my conscious deep awake the promises i keep, are not the ones i make i count the caustic causes, i lost count of regrets a surplus of good intentions, don't provide me with content, all i want is just a little content melvin: one time monthly rate, still no breathing room pressure's building up, so pump up the valium! mike: i've chosen the beaten path, i've been to where it leads (it sounds like "i've choosed" :/ ) why I keep coming back, a mystery to me i've found what i've been seeking, it's to late for me to care my aspiration's leaking from a hole i can't repair, maybe i just don't want it repaired. |
