I think the meaning behind "Half of my Heart" is that he hasn't ever fully loved anyone or anything. And he feels that he can only give half of his heart to her, nd he keeps fighting himself to whether really giving himself to her or just half. I think that especially with the "half of my heart is a shotgun wedding to a bride with a paper ring" is a clear explaination that he knows she deserve soo much more than he's putting in, and she deserves more than a "shotgun wedding" which is what he's giving her. "half of my heart's got a right mind to tell you that half of my heart won't do".. He wants to let her know that what he give isn't good enouugh for her, but he can't because he actually does love her |
