His attempt to make Jack Kerouac type poetry...

Really trying hard to be Beat

It's cool actually, better than most of the actual poetry of the Best Generation

Jacques Brel – Ne Me Quitte Pas Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is obvious, that is in the tradition of my favorite song: Devil Got My Woman.

I am French, from Québec... We do have our odes, our traditions, our blues. But that is it, the most powerful love song, cause love is always lost. We always seek it and once found, we lose it and search for it again. It's always seeking.

But that love, inconsiderate of our reason, is always ours, it's a possession. Skip James was a great poet, so was Jacques Brel. As he said: But my mind got to rambling. Like a wild geese from the west. Skip James was not a wordly man, but he said the same thing.

Jacques Brel express this pain of the lost love... which makes up for some of the most emotional love songs. It is a song about a love that refuse to die, about this man left alone who refuse to accept his faith as abandonned. Do not leave me, do not leave me, do not leave me... How often was this said in this context, how many excuses were expressed.

As he said:

I won't cry anymore, I won't talk
I will hide here
Watching you dance and smile
And to watch you sing and smile
Let me become
The shadow of your shadow
The shadow of your hand
The shadow of your dog
But
Don't leave me, don't leave me, don't leave me

It's obviously an obsession... He can't let go and move on, it's a broken affair that cannot end on his terms. He loves her even more now that she left him.
