For me, this song can pertain to any type of relationship whether it's a romantic relationship, an artists' relationship with their fans, friends, or even a dog and their owner (if you caught the video, you know what I'm talkin about). In any of these situations, there's always that one person who, when something isn't going right, has to have the upper hand even if it's "just for show". The whole song is a classic case of a rocky relationship--and for me it speaks volumes about why relationships are rocky in the first place. We front and say things we don't mean but then when we're faced with the consequences we go after what we thought we didn't want in the first place. |
