This song is about loneliness and the consequences of going after your dreams/ambitions/money (all kind of tied together). While you have realized your ambitions (take it to the limit), it isn't enough to fill the void you feel inside of you. I can really feel the anguish of Randy Meisner in his vocals and in the lyrics. Constantly touring and being away from your family can take its toll. The song strikes a chord with me because I took a good job opportunity, which is far away from my friends, family and a girl who I could have be seeing right now. Ahh the sacrifices we make in this crappy economy... |
