petecb, Yes - I feel the anger in this song. Something the old folks used to say is that when God gets sick of a body he kills em off. Sort of like that old Latin saw; "Whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad" I think that "nothing can be taken" from the dead. And you stop "waiting for the ambulance" after it's too late for them to be of any use to you - when you're dead. And the song actually seems to be about a careless (carefree?) person who doesn't appreciate his life until those final moments. On a lighter note: does this song flash anybody forward to that family planning doctor murder in the church? or of the reverend? |
