| Rush – Red Lenses Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is about Neil reading the newspaper "national midnight star", and getting pissed off about it's content. i see red it hurts my head guess it must be something that i read it's the colour of your heartbeat (opinion or letters to the editor) a rising summer sun (New day) the battle lost -- or won (war news or stock market) the flash to fashion (style or fashion page) and the pulse to passion -- feels red inside my head and truth is often bitter -- (reading between the lines) left unsaid said red red thinking about the overhead -- (business section) the underfed we've got mars on the horizon (astronomy) says the national midnight star (it's true) what you believe is what you are a pair of dancing shoes -- the soviets are the blues -- the reds (fear of the Russians) under your bed lying -- in the darkness dead ahead and the mercury is rising (weather) barometer starts to fall you know it gets to us all the pain that is learning and the rain that is burning -- (acid rain) feel red still -- go ahead you see black and white -- (newspaper) and i see red (not blue) ? |

It seems to me that this is about our perceptions or misconceptions of what a hero really is or should be. |

| Rush – Circumstances Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is about a now famous true story..... Neil was looking for a band that was as serious as he was, he wasn't having any luck in Toronto and decided he needed a big change, he would go to London and try there. His Dad helped him build a crate for his drums, and he had copied from some of his favorite albums the names of record companies and music business contacts in London and off he went. After arriving he started knocking on the doors of London's music businesses, he said he remembers one lady saying "Well, you're vary brave", meaning "you're very naive". With his money running out and still no prospects he went home. "A boy alone, so far from home, Endless rooftops from my window. I felt the gloom of empty rooms On rainy afternoons. Sometimes, in confusion, I felt so lost and disillusioned, Innocence gave me confidence To go up against reality." "All the same, we take our chances, Laughed at by Time, Tricked by Circumstances. Plus ca change, Plus c'est la meme chose, The more that things change, The more they stay the same". He then went to work at his Dad's farm equipment company and continued playing drums. one day someone came into the store and said that this band called Rush was looking for a drummer, would he be interested? And the rest is history. |

| Rush – The Pass Lyrics | 16 years ago |
All of us get lost in the darkness Dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter Dreamers turn to look at the stars Turn around and turn around and turn around Turn around and walk the razor's edge This song has helped me through some very tough times, Neil reminds me to not give up and try to make the most of life, no matter what the circumstances are. |
