both the "stop stalling, make a name for yourself" and the "just for the record the weather today..." parts are def. referencing the book Diary by Chuck ICan'tSpellHisLastNameButItBeginsWithA"P"AndEndsWith"ick".... other parts seem to reference it too, but nothing as direct. |

If anyones interested, there was some more...writing/comentary I guess you would call it in between these lyrics in the cd booklet. Actually, there was commentary in between quite a few of the songs, but I'm too lazy to post them all and I thought these were most relevant. Here is what it looks like. (from this point on it will be exactly what it looks like in the lyric booklet unless it's in parentheses) Mama, I'm swollen. I wrote this little poem about you. Well, It's about you and me, I guess. I don't want to live in the now. I don't want to know what I know. It's pretty basic. I was saying it over and over to myself on the way to the store when I ran into the most irate man in the parking lot. He was old, his hair scraggly grey, his teeth rotted yellow. He kept pounding his fist on a phonebook, screaming about 'End of Days'... I started thinking since the poem is so short, I could add this line- We're wearing out our heels on a road to Hell. So, I guess that's an ode to him. Now, I guess the poem is about you, me and how that crazy guy kinda scared the shit out of me. 'End of Days' makes life seems so linear, but I know and you know it's not. It's circular. (---history is writted, then crossed out---) -wait a sec- While History repeats, the Present won't repent. So, History repeats, 'cause Present won't repent. So, History repeats, 'cause Present won't repent. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. There-I think that's it. It's about You, Me, the Phone-Book Beater, and living in circles. That last part was kind of off the top of my head... |
