I heard somewhere, can't remember at the moment, that after this song was released, the producer killed himself. The song was somewhat of a suicide note. It actually supposed to say, "I'm blue, I will bleed I will Die." For legal reasons, they had to re-edit the song so it could legally be titled "Blue (Da Ba De)" without the suicidal overtones. Anyway, just a rumor I guess, but it makes sense. You can almost hear it. |

| I believe this song is about racing. Be it on the street, on the track, at the salt flats, or even a canyon road. The rush that is being described is that of the instant adrenaline flow through the body. I speak from experience as a "canyon runner" that understands what kind of danger that I am really in. The line, "Accelerate, near the edge, unsafe for once" perfectly describes performing a high speed run down a canyon road. The words, "this is life" could mean that life, like racing, is fast paced and unpredictable. No one knows what the outcome will be. Either you will survive to race another day, or you will crash and burn and that's the end of it. And, near the end of the song, if you listen carefully, you hear the sound of an engine revving up, taking off and driving away. | |
