I'm suspect there's a more personal subtext to it than that. My interpretation is that it's a personal narrative by the nail. (Høyem?) It's 1998, Høyem was 22 years old. He's suffering from cyclical bouts of depression and mental illness (insomnia, voices, flashing images, etc.) and is getting weary. He's lonely and would like to share his life with someone he loves - to keep him on track. "This nail is bent and broken, straighten it out with the hands of love" ... |
