I concur, but will add that there seems to be a horror film/cinema twist to it. Maybe sneaking in as a youngster to watch a horror film and the resulting nightmare of it? |

I feel that this is a bit of a revenge song. Mainly against someone who was pretty and popular but had been mean and bullying in the past and what would happen if the tables were turned. It also seems to be about the way this person made the writer feel, and that even through all of the hatred there's a feeling of love. "Don't you know people write songs, about girls like you?" - Seems to be surprise that the subject isn’t aware of the feelings invoked in the writer. I'm reasonably new to the band, and while I don't like the whole album, it's the songs like this that continue to amaze me. The band have an amazing talent for conveying an emmotion in their songs (Spank is quite a fearful song, as is punching in a dream). |

A quick note on the the fact that this song doesn't actually "exist" as music. In the Scott Pilgrim comics, this is the song that is replaced by "We Are Sex Bob-Omb" in the movie. The writer of the comic, put lyrics and the music for it in, and there have been a couple of covers of this song as a consequence. I consider the Euan Lynn chiptune version to be the best of the ones I've heard, and a very good song on the whole. |
