Wooow... Pikaboo! Don't you think really that? Do you really understand this song? I'm french, and I ABSOLUTELY not agree with you... I think you misunderstand the lyrics... It deals about a woman who lived a love story. But it was failure. She's disgusted. The life seems without interest. She don't want to work anymore, she don't eat anymore, she don't want to LOVE anymore... She just want to smoke and forget HIM. Because you there's a letter really IMPORTANT, it's the "l'" when she says "je veux seulement L'oublier" or, if you want "je veux seulement oublier LUI" She want to forget that man, who make them discover "le parfum de l'amour" (= "the love's smell") ... It's absolutely not about a prositute!!! ... |

Est-il bien necessaire - Is it really necessary de me dire vous plutot que tu, - To say "vous" instead of "tu"? si c'est pour par derrière - if it's, behind my back, me botter le cul ? - to kick my ass. Là -bas en Angleterre - Over there, in England ils se disent tous "you", - Everybody says "you" c'est plus clair, - It's clearer de Toto, Tony Blair, a Lizarazu. - From To-To-Tony Blair to Lizarazu. |

"Pourquoi tu m'appelles PC alors que j'm'appelle appel ?" in fact, she says "Pourquoi tu m'appelles PC, alors que j'm'appelle Apple?" ^^ But with the french pronunciation, we can understand "appel" instead of "Apple" :) So it's: "Why do you call me PC When my name is Apple?" :) For the next verse, she don't say "Alès", I know... But I don't manage to understand what she says exactly... ^^ |

| Camille – Quand Je Marche Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I wrote it without special french caractère... ^^ To be readable... :P |

"I have an appointment in a basement with lunatics" is a right translation of "J'ai rendez-vous dans un sous-sol avec des fous", even if it's not the better translation. :) :) I don't speak english very well, but it could be also translated by "I have a meeting in a cellar with crazy guys" |

Hey,taylorsaurus rex! Good Job! ^^ I know it's not easy to translate our songs (I'm French) from French to English. This one wasn't to difficult to understand, but you correctly translate it! ^^ When you speak French fluently, it's sometimes a real playground! :D |

| Camille – Je Ne Suis Pas Ta Chose Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
You're right! That's the global meaning of the song... It's about "the end of a love affair"... When she says "Je ne suis pas ta chose", she says "I'm not yours any more", and the reason is in the words "J'aurais préféré ta bouche / à mon corps indigo sous tes coups"... It means "I would have prefered your mouth, rather than your punches on my indigo body..." Clearly, he hits her, so she leaves... ^^ "I'm not the girl on who you place your hands" |

| Camille – Paris Lyrics | 16 years ago |

'The staircases of postal cards' is good.:) "On dit qu'a Toulouse les briques sont roses". Toulouse (town from the soouth of France) is said to be "the rose town", because of the color of the bricks used to build the houses... So she want to leave the grey bricks of Paris, and sea the rose bricks of Toulouse. "[tu parie] Que je change / De cap de capitale" => That I change course, That I choice an other capital. "Je te plaque" : I'm leaving you! (overfamiliar) "Les bateaux mouches": Kind of boats, in Paris. Often used to visit the town from the river. Congratulations for your translation, NellieWhiskey! ^^ |

If I can make some changes in the translation... And help people to understand... Nailed to the ground(1) The bird bumps Here and there Colonies of storks Leave without him Although say(2) Your aerobatics are amazing(3) In the open air Birds also feel vertigo Drunk with alcohol What is this man doing? Hobbling along. Some Cigarettes (4) Full of bitterness Does he only know that... Although say(2) Your aerobatics are amazing(3) In the open air Birds also feel vertigo (1)I don't know if the expression exist in English... "Cloué au sol" don't means that the bird is really "nailed", it means that she can't leave the ground... For example, human beings, before the invention of plan, were "cloué au sol" ^^ (2) It took the translation made bt Adder... Even if I don't know what "Although say", means exactly... "Quoiqu'on dise" means: That people says don't have importance, all people can say about that (the birds'fly) don't change what I think about it. (3) It's French, it's more: "Amazing, your aerobatics |

I post it again with some changes... :D I used the translation of DarkSharkey to help me when he correctly translated! ^^ Good job! Hé! petite fille tu bois de l'eau et tu es saoule — Hey ! little girl ! You drink water and you're drunk Là où tu te noies tu as beau avoir pied tu coules - There where you drown, although you're within your depth, you sink! Au port — At port Hé! petite folle! c'est pas la brasse c'est le crawl — Hey! crazy girl, it's not breaststroke its crawl Pour la traversée il t'aurait fallu des épaules - For the crossing, you would have needed enough strong shoulders Du corps — A strong body Mais lui c'est différent, il est né sur l'océan, - But him it’s different, he was born on the sea C'est un grand capitaine, un amant monument, - He’s a great captain, a lover-monument Tu t'es perdue dedans... — You got lost inside…. Hé! petite fille! on est jamais deux à partir — Hey ! Little girl ! We never have to leave both of us. Y'en a toujours un pour larguer l'autre pour languir — One of us always drop the other, to languish Au port — At port… Hé! petite cruche! avec tes pots de confiture — Hey ! Little fool ! With your pot of jam, Tu partiras en sucette mais pas à l'aventure - You will go pear-shaped, but not on adventure Au Nord… - To the North… Mais lui c'est différent, il est né sur le Mont Blanc, - But him, he’s different, he was born on the Mont Blanc (highest montaign in France) C'est un grand alpiniste, un amant monument, - He’s a big climber, a lover-monument, Tu as perdu sa piste... — You’ve lost his track… Hé! petite nonne! suis l'Au-delà si tu le trouves - Hey little nun! Follow the Beyond if you find it. Le ramène pas au cardinal pour qu'il te l'ouvre - But don't bring it to the cardinal, or he will open it... Encore — Again… Hé! petite larve! je suis toi-même et je te parle - Hey little grub, I am you and I speak to you ! Tu es déjà grande alors lève toi sors de ta cale - You're already big, so get up, and leave your hold! (hinding place) Au port… - At port… Ton coeur de petite fille est mort. — Your little girl’s heart is dead. Hé! petite fille! à ta droite l'Arc de Triomphe - Hey little girl, on your right, the Arc de Triomphe Hé! petite fille! à ta gauche il y a dieu qui ronfle - Hey little girl, on your left, there is God snoring… Hé! petite fille! devant il y a les pyramides - Hey little girl, in front there's the pyramids Hé! petite fille! derrière l' génie de la Bastille. - Hey little girl, behind you, the “Genie de la Bastille” ! |

(So... I'm French, so my english is not perfect... But I can try to explain you some part of the text you didn't understand... ^^ But do not forget that the lyrics of this song are really... "poetic"... ^^ When I'm not sure of what I translated, I try to explain you like that [...] just under what I try to say in english) Oh little girl, you drink water and you're drunk There where you drown, you're within your depth but you sink! [Fr: "avoir pied": The sea level is low, so you can walk without drowning in the sea...] At port... Hey you crazy girl, it's not breaststroke it's crawl For the crossing, You need strong shoulders And a body, a body... [OKAY! It tells about swimming. She tried to cross the sea. She was wrong, because she used the breaststroke, instead of the crawl. For the crossing she needs "épaules" and "corps"... To be clear, she needed to be more strong to cross the sea by swimming... She did'nt have shoulders and body enough strong... => This is an allegory... I think the sea represents the LIFE, or something else...] But him, he's different, he was born on the sea He's a big captain, a monumental lover You're lost inside Hey little girl! We are never two having to leave... There's always one to drop the other to languish... At port. [The woman tell the girl that one of them will be obliged to leave. (One of them, but not two...) One of them drop the other, who stay to languish at port... ^^] Hey little fool, with your pots of jam (US jelly) [Fr: "cruche": double meaning: It's a little vase, used to pour water, but it is also a word used to talk about a woman or a girl who are a bit stupid... :D] You will go wild, but not on adventure To the north But him, he's different, he was born on Mont Blanc He's a big climber, a monumental lover You've lost his path Hey little nun! Follow the Beyond if you find it. But don't bring it to the cardinal, because he will open it... Again... Hey little grub, I am you and I speak to you You're already big, so get up, leave your hold (hinding place) At port Your little girl's heart is dead Hey little girl, on your right, the arc de triomphe Hey little girl, on your left a snoring god Hey little girl, in front there's the pyramids Hey little girl, behind you, the genius of the Bastille. Congratulations to everyone!! ^^ French is not a language really easy when we want to translate in english... ^^ |
