System of a Down – Mind Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is a message to the trash that makes up a significant portion of the human race in spite of this mind we're given with so much potential to do good.

Look at each other. What the hell is wrong with you? You're a bunch of violent, abusive child molesters. A bunch of you run a society where if they find out you think outside the box they'll put you down to shut you up and keep the rest of their ass-backwards society safe from your radical ideology in which women are allowed to drive cars and walk around in public with their faces showing. Go ahead, point fingers. Blame someone for your problems. Act like blame and hate are a way to work out your differences. Blame your parents for the abusive piece of shit you'll be when you grow up, cause it's their fault - how can you help it - you're their seed.

You know what? Fuck all of you. Go ahead and die. We'll let you. I mean LOOK at each other. What the FUCK is wrong with you?

That's what this song is about. It's an angry song about everything wrong with the world. He's speaking his mind.

A Perfect Circle – Rose Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this song's position as a prelude to Judith makes it a bit less open to interpretation than one would initially believe. That's not to dismiss the value of interpreting it openly, just to say it has a clear context which one should take away as well.

The song opens up expressing a state of complacency and ongoing compromise in one's own common sense and values to avoid "rocking to boat."

In the second verse one can hear a clear change in tone, as Maynard begins expressing frustration and desperation with the same feeling of treading softly to avoid conflict.

The phrase "I am, I will sow no longer" is a clear statement in response to a verse in the Bible from which Paul is frequently quoted, "You reap what you sow." "Those who sow to please their sinful nature will reap destruction; those who sow to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." The singer is rejecting the notion that he should "please the spirit" in the hope of eternal life. The tone of the song here is clearly one of violent uprising and personal rebellion. In the final line of this verse he roars out, "Here, I will, I am" as to say "Here I am, with my free will. Where are you?!" He calls religion self destructive and challenges God. The final verse repeats this sentiment.

Our Lady Peace – Signs of Life Lyrics 16 years ago
Opens very lamely, then gets better. The opening to a lot of these songs on this album are their weakness, but some of the melodies are among the best I've heard. I have to see them live again now that this album's out to see how the presentation differs.

Our Lady Peace – Never Get Over You Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this is a great song, but I think Raine damned near ruined it by making the first two verses a bit too personal and irrelevant to the rest of the song. It reminds me of his solo album, titled "I Hope My Wife Likes This Album I Made For Her Because I'm Pretty Damned Sure No One Else Will." Other than that, this is one of the best songs on the new album in my opinion, and I respect Raine's right to write whatever the hell he wants even if I don't like it.

Our Lady Peace – Paper Moon Lyrics 16 years ago
I feel that this song is about feeling trapped by the demands set by society. An increasing number of young people don't philosophically believe in wasting their lives away stuck in an office. They feel that there is a lot to enjoy in the world, and that spending eight hours each day for five days per week sitting behind a desk is a sin. Unfortunately, the standards and expectations set by generations before us and maintained by consumerism leave some of us feeling trapped, especially in young urban communities and elite circles where there's a lot of pressure to have stylish clothes, a nice ride, and a sweet crib. If you don't see this where you live, take a trip to the hip metro areas in the U.S. and check out how many guys are walking around in pairs of $75 Express Jeans when it's over 90*F outside.

The line, "They just don't know anything at all," explains that the singer feels as if those around him (and probably especially the older generations) are also trapped, but they don't have a clue or realize that they're wasting their lives away. While their ignorance is bliss, the singer's enlightenment and realization that they're so caught up in the materialistic standards of society has them feeling dragged down and beaten. They're seeking refuge if anyone knows a way out.
