Seems like he has a fondness for the name "Lucy". Because in this song he writes that he loves Lucy forever and in "Swampland" by The Birthday Party he also writes "Lucy, ah'll love ya till the end!" ;) In the biography by Ian Johnston is written that the song maybe could be about Anita Lane. I thought that too because already when i listened to Swampland i thought that Lucy could be her. But that can all be completely wrong. |

Yeah its really hard to think of some meaning, especially when you have to look up so many words because you are no native speaker and then you have to find out that many of them are slang and you can`t find a fitting translation. :D I always think about a guy who sits in a messy room, drinks a lot and goes insane, watching the hours go by and gets sicker and sicker in his mind. Maybe because a woman left him, maybe he lost somebody or his woman died and now he doesn`t know how to go on. This song is incredibly dark and there is a really haunting atmosphere in it. I love it, too :) |
