I read somewhere that it was too "dark" for the album.
Like, the the majority of the album is pretty fun and playful, but when you really look at this it has deeper meaning than the rest of the songs.

I think it's, as I said above, sort of like Poppin' Champagne in its meaning, in the way that it's quite obviously about fame, but also about how All Time Low knows they're making it big, but are sorta afraid of how they're going to deal with the new fame.

Because I think they know that with the fame, comes people who are always going to try to change them. There's going to be the gossip, and the people who hate the "new sound" that comes with new records. They know they're never going to please everyone, and it's basically all one big game. Because like I said, they'll get the haters, and the new fans, and the people that only want to know the latest gossip, but that's what comes with the fame.

"I fell in love..." to

"They're finding me out
I'm having my doubts
I'm losing the best of me
Dressed up as myself
To live in the shadow
Of who I'm supposed to be"

That shows how the fame manitpulates people. It gets to their head and makes them lose sight of what's really important. And also, I think, it's about how once you've changed for the worse, it's too late to go back, because the mistake has already been made.

But if you look at the next part,
"Caught up in the spot light,
Shaking from the stage fright,
How did I end up here?"

I think it's sorta like Poppin' Champagne, and how they know they're making it big, but sorta being afraid of how they're going to deal with all of the new fame.

I think, based on recent interviews, that this song is about all the "haircut" bands that make it on appearance and not on talent.

The chorus, in my opinion, describes it perfectly. Because all of these bands are just getting their fame handed to them, and not having to work for it. They're going straight to the top, getting a-list treatment, while other bands have to work for their fans and their fame ("So take my life, I'll hand it to you"). And then once all of these "haircut bands" have their fame, it's still not the same as the bands who have to work for it. Because the haircut bands...there's nothing behind the music. They're writing it just to write it, and that's it. It's just empty words, and they never really get the respect that other bands have, and they tend to be more of a fad (You can try on my clothes, but you can't fill these shoes"). I also think that "See a heart of gold turn platinum" means that now that these bands who have been handed everything get famous, they don't know what to do with the attention and let it get to their heads, whereas the bands that work for it tend to be more grounded.

And then the part that goes, "Would you trade this heart of gold for a minute in my skin?", I think means that it's more important to write music that you love, and stay true to yourself and your band, rather than lust after the fame.

But that's just my take on it. I don't think that the band wrote it about themselves.
