i definitely think this song can be interpreted in many different ways depending on what your "razor" is. to me it sounds like a person you really admire. whether it be a friend, a lover, your estranged dad, whatever. but i feel like it's about someone you want a better relationship with, it just can't be achieved because they hurt you, but you feel for them anyway. | I don't know about you guys, but I definitely feel like this song is about Dave moving in with Kurt when he first started playing with Nirvana. I remember reading in a book or something that Kurt had just gotten out of a relationship and he would basically never talk. and then one day he told dave that "he is not always like this" and dave was just like "oh thank god". he slept on kurt's couch though so maybe he just desired a room of his own or something. and his two best friends are kurt and krist and no one speaks because they really all don't know eachother all that well yet. he is lonely. | |

"One baby to another says I'm lucky to have met you" I feel like that means the song is about a teenager having a baby, but the rest of the song doesn't seem to mean any of that. who knows though, kurt went all over the place with his lyrics. |

i think this song is about a girl that just see's herself as a sex object because she is with someone who is too sexually aggressive or something. she wants part of him to love her and she doesn't know how to do this without having sex with him. she knows she is better than that. i think that has something to do with "tie my right hand to the bible". she wants something more but she doesn't know how to move on or get rid of this guy. i think this explains the lines "Too little too late but we can't say no It's too much to feel" She likes their alone time. Having sex is the only way to get it. she isn't ready to let him go yet. i love the way her voice sounds when she sings the lines "Sure for the first time you're wearing the right clothes Now take them off Meet me on the band room rug Tie my right hand to the ride" I love metric's lyrics but i really don't like how she makes her voice so high when she sings some other songs like Poster of a Girl. "You can take a live wire into the bath with you For a feeling you can't find You can entertain your childhood friends with a tour of the bedroom Laugh to erase the dirt on your mind" I pretty much think this all means this guy doesn't know how to fill HIS emptiness without sex and he needs to let everyone know that he has gotten laid. For example, "You can entertain your childhood friends with a tour of the bedroom". ""You can take a live wire into the bath with you For a feeling you can't find" Needing to find more exciting ways to please himself or her? And "Laugh to erase the dirt on your mind" he has other issues going on so he jokes around to make it all seem better. I'm not sure. this is my favorite song of theirs though and that's what it means to me. |

this song is so real. i can relate to it because from a very young age i thought a pill could fix anything. then i realized that it doesn't always work like that so i tried to self medicate myself. it made the medication not work properly. the doctors kept giving me more shit and i kept asking for as much as i could. i think real happiness comes from inside and you have to find the underlying problem. the quick fix never really works. "So you're daughters depressed, we'll get her straight on the Prozac But little do you know she already takes crack" i think that is a powerful line. it just makes me a little scared to have children haha because i dont want them to fuck up like i did and i feel like perscriptions are becoming more and more available. |
