I don't Dir en Grey (particularly Kyo) is arrogant enough to worry about the fans who prefer their older music. I, myself am more worried about the people who refuse to acknowledge that era simply because of their appearance at the time. Dir en Grey has always had HUGE variations to their music. Even on the same album, compare Akuro no Oka to Zan. This song seems to be about viewing different contridictions within oneself and trying, though not well, to make an interpertation of them. Self-reflection is often insanely difficult. |

This has a pretty good disscussion going, but I want to point out Geisha ARE NOT postitutes. Several people seemed to read it like that. Well, first off this is yet another varied translation of [KR]cube. I hate that, as if Kyo's lyrics weren't complicated enough!! My take on this is that the speaker loves (or thinks s/he does) someone who seems to be oblivious to the affection. However, the mention of Gion does put an interesting twist into it. Honestly, as much as I scratch my brain over it, I can't decifer it. Possibly had something to do with falling for a Geisha but I don't see that. Alas, these lyrics are extremly well done. I thinks it's amazing that they do get the fans thinking. |
